"New restraints may add extra protection to at-risk passengers"

Engineering students at Johns Hopkins University created a crash impact protection system designed to prevent fatal or serious injuries in as many as 13 million passengers who suffer from osteoporosis, brittle bone disorder and hemophilia.

The system, designed in response to a school challenge, uses the four-point harness system of a racecar instead of the three-point seat belt system used in passenger cars to offer protection to the torso and the sternum. Extra padding reduces the forceful impact applied during a crash.
